Compact Roto-Sonic

The Compact Roto-Sonic head is designed to drill deeper, faster and bigger boreholes.  With output forces from 20,000 to 28,000 pounds of force, the CRS allows rotation and vibration simultaneously.  This combination provides much higher cutting action down-hole, facilitating drilling in more competent semi-consolidated geologic formations.  The basic head weighs 900 pounds and with frame and hydraulic tilt, it weighs 1,400 pounds.  Typical borings are 3 to 6 inches in diameter and achieve depths of 200 feet and 100 feet, respectively.  Where soil conditions are unknown or generally difficult, the CRS head is the choice.

The CRS head can drill with air, water or dry.  Most rigs are set up with a sonic proof side port swivel to advance tooling with fluids to ease friction and remove the formation. The system works well with a small mud pan and or de-sander and mixing system for grout.

Rods and casing can be loaded with use of the head tilt mechanism or an independent rod loading vehicle.  The standard double break-out clamps that come with most rigs are essential for hands free advancement.

The CRS head operates best with a minimum of 173 horse power which facilitates the use of other accessories necessary for drilling.
