Ground Source Heat Loops
Ground Source Heat Loops can be installed with 2.5”, 3.5”, 4.0” and 5.0” casing depending on the loop diameters and the depth requirements for each borehole. Unlike other drilling techniques, sonic can drill while casing the borehole to eliminate borehole collapse and does not require a high volume air or mud. Borehole-wall compaction aids in conductivity as the formation is typically displaced into the borehole walls. Drop off tips, expendable cones, and knock off bits allow the casing to reach the targeted depth, the loop is then installed inside the casing, the grout added, and the casing vibrated out, the loop installation is complete. Environmental Sampling and Monitoring Well Installations
Environmental Sampling and Monitoring Well Installations can be drilled with dual-tube sampling systems, in 2”x4”, 3”x5” and 4”x6” core barrel-diameter and outer casing tooling sizes. Smaller inner rods, typically 2.5” or 3” outer diameter, are used to attach to the 2”, 3” or 4” core barrel, with a flush or minor upset casing washed or vibrated over the core barrel casing the borehole. The core barrels are extracted using the drill head or a wire-line winch. The casing remains in the formation until the final targeted depth is reached, and a well is set or the hole grouted.
Core Sampling using the AquaLock™
Core Sampling using AqualLock piston sampler collects high-quality core in a variety of conditions, even loose sand and saturated sediments typically difficult to collect with standard techniques. The Aqua-Lock is available in 2” and 3” core barrels. The barrels are made of stainless steel and are comprised of a valve-operated drive head, internal floating piston and a choice of cutting shoes for differing lithologic conditions. Cores can be extruded into PVC liners, polyethylene bags or core boxes. The AquaLock is the tool of choice in unconsolidated formations where recovery is critical. Ideal for mine tailings, site investigations, marine sediments, leach ponds and more. Seismic Shot Hole Drilling
Seismic Shot Hold Drilling is fast and efficient with sonic, even in collapsing conditions. High production is accomplished by drilling with small-diameter casing and a drop off tip. Casing diameters include 63mm (2.5”), 88mm, (3.5”), or 100mm, (4.”), with expendable tips available for all casing sizes. A variety of bits for rock and gravel include finger, drag, chevron, open face, and full face.
Geo-Construction with Sonic
Geo-Construction with Sonic improves overall on-site production by maximizing the footage drilled per day. Micro-piles, tie-backs, soil nails, or injection grouting with sonic technology is faster in unconsolidated formations than other techniques. Hollow bar installations can be completed with a sonic drill and grout system, using star bits or lost cones in most formations. Tooling sizes range from 2.5” injection rods to 8” outside-diameter casing for micro-piles.
Mineral Sampling and Exploration
Mineral Sampling and Exploration can be accomplished with sonic in softer rock or tailings piles. Specialty samplers, including the Aqua-Lock or dual-tube sampler, are ideal for core recovery and sampling. Core barrels range from 2” to 6” and can be selected based on site geology.
